The Pacific University athletic training staff is responsible for the treatment and medical care of Pacific's intercollegiate athletes.
The athletic training staff includes three full-time certified athletic trainers, Work Study students, a physical therapist and a team doctor.
The athletic training program gives work study students a unique learning experience. Work study students learn in a practical setting by working with Boxer athletic teams under the supervision of the certified athletic trainers. Students work with 20 intercollegiate athletic teams, attending practices and games.
Hours of Operation
The training room is open for athletes one hour before practices and two hours before games.

As with all health care facilities, there are procedures that must be followed in order to qualify for and receive service. You are elegible for services provided by the athletic training staff if you meet the following criteria:
1. You are a current member of a Pacific University intercollegiate athletic team.
2. You have received a pre-participation medical examination and the proper form is completed. NCAA and Pacific Athletic Department guidelines stipulate that this be accomplished upon enterance into the athletic program. The medical exam is required yearly.
3. All updated and current forms are on file with the athletic training staff. Visit the Forms page to find out which forms you need to fill out. Medical exams are considered current if they are performed within the current academic year (considered July 1 to June 30).
There may be instances in which an athlete may need referral to the team physician, Dr. Brad Butler. These visits are determined and scheduled, if neccesary, following a clinical evaluation by a staff ATC. Private practice office visits with the team physician will incur charges and be billed to the patient or the primary insurance carrier.
Pacific University's team physician, Dr. Brad Butler, will be the final authority as to whether a Pacific University student-athlete can safely return to practice and/or play, even if a student-athlete has sought another medical opinion.
